Associate Veterinarian
Kristen Dager is a dedicated Associate Veterinarian who recently graduated from the University of Illinois in May of 2024. Her journey into veterinary medicine stems from a deep-seated passion for animals, science, problem-solving, and aiding others.
Dr. Kristen Dager finds immense fulfillment in the diverse challenges presented by her role at Care First Animal Hospital. She values the opportunity to interact with a wide array of cases, from routine check-ups to complex medical cases. Having the ability to meet so many people, and have an impact on their lives during some of the best times, in addition to helping them through the some of the worst times, is particularly fulfilling and meaningful to Dr. Kristen Dager. Outside of work, Dr. Kristen embraces an active lifestyle. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, and exploring new places, whether for culinary adventures or recreational activities. She also finds joy in caring for her plants and spending quality time with her own pets.
During her time at the University of Illinois, Dr. Dager pursued a comprehensive education that included elective coursework in zoo companion animal medicine, physical rehabilitation, shelter medicine, and business leadership. She distinguished herself as President of the Veterinary Student Outreach Program, enhancing community awareness of veterinary medicine and mentoring aspiring veterinarians.
Dr. Dager’s professional journey has been enriched by diverse experiences, including roles at a wildlife rehabilitation center, fostering animals for a local rescue, and assisting surgeries at the veterinary teaching hospital. Her commitment to continuous learning is underscored by externships in primary care, emergency and critical care settings, and voluntary work in neurology and physical therapy.
Dr. Kristen Dager is certified in RECOVER BLS, and is dedicated to providing Fear Free veterinary care, ensuring a positive experience for pets and their owners alike at Care First Animal Hospital.
