- Electrolytes
- Clotting factors
- Blood smear
- Fecal samples
- Urine samples
- Aspiration of masses
- And more
In addition, we have a close partnership with an outside lab, so that we can offer more extensive results and veterinary services. Each of our locations is well versed in Cary diagnostic medicine for pets, including endoscopy, allergy testing, digital radiology and ultrasound.
Veterinary Endoscopy
Usually a non-invasive or minimally invasive procedure, this medical practice uses equipment that allows our veterinarians to have a full-color, magnified view of objects and organs inside our patient’s body.
Veterinary Allergy Testing
Just like humans, pets can suffer from allergies. Care First offers cat and dog allergy testing in Cary and the Triangle, so that you can be aware of what triggers allergy symptoms.
Digital Radiology, Ultrasound & Vimago HDVI for Animals
Digital radiographs (or X-rays), ultrasounds, and the Vimago HDVI (similiar to a CT scan) are extremely useful in diagnosing concerns with a patient’s heart, lungs, abdominal organs, bones and more. This process is painless, safe and completely non-invasive.

Digatherm
Digital thermal imaging is your opportunity to get a full understanding of your pet’s circulatory, nervous and musculoskeletal systems.
What is Digatherm?
Digatherm is a state-of-the-art thermographic imaging system that utilizes a highly sensitive infrared camera to capture and measure temperature patterns emitted by your pet. The temperatures are then converted into images where thermal emissions can be visualized and analyzed by a veterinarian. Digatherm allows pet owners to get a comprehensive look at their pet’s health, recovery progress and more.

How Thermal Imaging Can Help Your Pet
- Early disease detection: Temperature irregularities may indicate a variety of health issues, including inflammation, infection and circulatory problems. By identifying causes for concern early, a veterinarian can intervene and provide timely treatment before potential issues become critical.
- Pain management: Pets often mask their pain, making it a challenge for veterinarians to accurately gauge their discomfort. Because higher temperatures can be associated with pain or inflammation, infrared imaging reveals where your pet may be hurting.
- Orthopedic evaluations: In cases of musculoskeletal injuries or orthopedic conditions, Thermal imaging can be used to assess the extent of damage and monitor your pet’s healing. Veterinarians utilizing this technology are empowered to make informed decisions regarding surgical interventions, rehabilitation or ongoing care.
- Monitoring chronic conditions: Digital imaging allows veterinarians to monitor the progression of chronic conditions such as arthritis and diabetes. If any changes are detected, a veterinarian can adjust treatment plans as needed.
Digatherm Benefits
- Non-invasive
- No radiation
- Timely interventions
- Improved quality of life

Ultrasounds & X-Rays
Ultrasounds are not only useful for humans, but when used as diagnostic medicine on pets, they have proven to be a very effective tool. Care First Animal Hospital is proud to offer ultrasounds in Cary, NC and locations throughout the Triangle. After all, it is our goal to provide our patients with the best veterinary services by using the latest technologies available for pets.
What Is An Ultrasound?
Ultrasonography is a diagnostic tool that produces ultrasound waves to create an internal image of the patient’s body. Ultrasounds differ from X-rays in that they don’t use radiation and utilize high-frequency sound waves to create a picture of the inside of the patient.
A non-invasive, painless procedure, our Cary diagnostic ultrasounds generate images of abdominal organs, such as the liver, spleen, gallbladder and kidneys. Ultrasounds can also provide information about heart valves, blood flow through the heart and contractions of the heart muscle. This helps our trained, experienced veterinarians determine what is wrong with your pet and the best treatment plan for the illness.
